The BBB Torch Awards for Ethics honor organizations whose leaders demonstrate a high level of personal character, whose practices meet the highest standards of ethics, and who consequently generate trust with their customers and their community. The Torch Award embodies BBB's mission of advancing business trust.

The Torch Awards are open to for-profit organizations, 501(c)(3) nonprofits, and 501(c)(6) nonprofits of all sizes located within BBB's 36-county service area.

BBB Accreditation is not required to apply.
Your organization has been in business for three years or more
Your main location is within the BBB of Central Illinois 36-county service area
For-profit and 501(c)(6) applicants must have a "B" rating with BBB
501(c)(3) nonprofit applicants must complete the Charitable Standards Evaluation process and meet all BBB Standards for Charity Accountability

Entries are evaluated by an independent, voluntary panel of judges comprised of business and community leaders. Your written submission - including examples, stories, and documents - should provide a robust and accurate depiction of your organization's focus on character, culture, customers, and community.
Supporting documents and attachments can range from handbooks and internal documentation to photos from events.
Ethical leadership and personal integrity.
Internal values that support ethical behavior.
How you prioritize relationships and trust.
Your broader impact and responsibility.
The guide walks through every question, what the judges are looking for, and examples of strong supporting documentation. Read it before you start: the strongest applications are the most specific ones.
Average completion time: 45–60 minutes. Try to gather all your information before starting the application.
